Ex-Monte Vista High Hoopster Arrested in Cell Phone Mugging

Spring Valley resident is being held on $100,000 bail, faces arraignment on Friday in El Cajon Superior Court.

A former Monte Vista High School basketball player was booked Wednesday morning on charges of robbery in a Dec. 10 mugging at the Grossmont Trolley Station, authorities said.

The suspect, Kristopher Galloway of Spring Valley, is accused of forcibly taking a cell phone from a teenage boy from La Mesa at the trolley station in the 8600 block of Fletcher Parkway, said La Mesa police. The station is behind the Alterra and Pravada apartments.

Police have reported a spate of cell-phone robberies in recent months, but La Mesa police Lt. Dan Willis said:  “Galloway has not been connected to other recent cell phone robberies as of this time.”
