FD Investigate Spring Valley House Fire

Fire officials are investigating a house fire in Spring Valley, accidentally started by a resident at the home, in which a rear portion of the structure was damaged. It was not immediately known if anyone was arrested a result of the fire, said Sgt. James Blanton of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

At about 12:32 a.m. deputies from the sheriff's Lemon Grove station received a call to assist the San Miguel Fire Department on a reported brush fire next to some residential homes in the 3300 block of South Granada Avenue, according to Blanton.

Upon arrival, deputies and firefighters found a residence on fire at the rear of the structure, he said. Arson investigators arrived the scene and determined that the fire was accidentally started by one of the residents, he said.
