Spiderman Unmasked: La Mesa Police Arrest 2 Tied to 5 Robberies

Johnny McGee and Gina Ludwig were identified during the investigation of a robbery on Massachusetts Avenue in January.

The La Mesa Police Department announced Tuesday that detectives arrested two suspects who gained notoriety for wearing a Spiderman mask during some of the numerous robberies police allege they are tied to.

Johnny McGee, 43, was booked at San Diego County Jail on charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, restraining order violations, burglary, and conspiracy; and Gina Ludwig, 38, was booked into Las Colinas Detention Facility on one charge of robbery. Both are residents of San Diego.

Last week La Mesa Police Detective Dale Perry identified the suspect in the Sierra Market (3800 Massachusetts Avenue) robbery that occurred on January 28, 2013, in which the clerk got into an altercation with the suspect and was injured.

On the morning of June 7 La Mesa Police detectives arrested the duo. During the investigation, detectives were able to link the two suspects to four additional robberies in the City of La Mesa, according to a police press release. Police are working with surrounding jurisdictions to determine if these two suspects are related to additional robberies in the area.
