Sleeping Woman Raped at La Mesa Party, Police Say

Dominic Bailey was arrested by La Mesa Police Department detectives Dec. 24 of last year at Buffalo Wild Wings in Santee for allegedly committing rape and sodomy last spring.

A man accused of committing rape and sodomy at a La Mesa house party appeared in court Thursday.

Dominic Bailey, 23, continues to be held on $100,000 bail following the hearing Thursday at the East County Regional Center, said Assistant District Attorney Kerry Conway.

Bailey has been charged with rape of an intoxicated person, rape of an unconscious person, sodomy of an intoxicated person and sodomy of an unconscious victim.

"We don't know if she was asleep due to the alcohol or asleep due to her just being fatigued and tired," Nicholass said.

Bailey was arrested by La Mesa Police Department (LMPD) detectives Dec. 24 at Buffalo Wild Wings at 254 Town Center Parkway in Santee, according to Lt. Matt Nicholass of the LMPD.

The alleged crime took place May 11 of last year and was reported when police responded to complaints about a party in an apartment in the 5400 block of Vincetta Court, Nicholass said.

Bailey was arraigned Dec. 26 of last year. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 24 for a readiness conference and Jan. 30 for a preliminary exam.

If convicted, Bailey faces a maximum 10 years in prison, Conway said.

"or asleep due to her just being fatigued and tired," I have been really tired after a long day of ditch digging or laying block or pouring concrete, but I have never been tired enough to not notice being raped and sodomized. How 'bout you?
