Six Arrested in DUI Warrant Sweeps of Homes and Businesses
Nearly four dozen people living or working in La Mesa were subject to seizure as fugitives from court or failing to meet probation requirements.
Despite public warnings that they were targeted for arrest, six La Mesans were seized in a DUI warrant sweep Monday by the La Mesa Police Department.
A total of 46 subjects with outstanding warrants—involving cases of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol—that had been issued in the past months were identified, said a news release.
"Several teams of officers attempted to locate these subjects at their last known residential address or place of business," the release said. "In the end, six of these subjects were located and arrested for the outstanding warrants" on charges of violating probation or failing to show for their court hearings.
"This warrant detail serves as yet another reminder to the citizens of our community that the La Mesa Police Department will not tolerate drunk drivers or those people that fail to complete their court mandated sentencing conditions as a result of a DUI arrest."
La Mesa police were aided by officers of the San Diego County Probation Department.
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
