Seven Injured in Chain-Reaction Collision on Lake Murray Boulevard

Serious injuries were reported after a chain-reaction collision that left several people trapped in a crumpled car, according to police.

A chain-reaction series of collisions left seven people injured―several seriously―on a stretch of Lake Murray Boulevard Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

The accident occurred in the 8700 block of Lake Murray Boulevard was reported shortly after 4 p.m., according to San Diego police.

Witnesses said as many as five vehicles were involved in the wreck, which left several people trapped in a crumpled car, SDPD Lt. Andra Brown said.

An air ambulance took the more severely injured patients to a trauma center. Several children apparently were among those injured, Brown said.

It was not immediately clear what caused the accident, though one of the involved motorists reportedly was driving recklessly and at high speed just before it occurred.
