Seven Forced From Homes by Fire

Nobody was injured in the Sunday-afternoon structure fire.

Seven people were displaced by a fire that broke out in the 5000 block of Thorne Drive on Sunday afternoon, but no serious injured were reported, according to Heartland Fire & Rescue.

Fire crews arrived on the scene around 3:00 p.m. and saw smoke coming from one of the three units in the single-story structure, according to a Heartland Fire report. La Mesa firefighters had the fire out within 10 minutes, preventing other structures from burning, and were assisted by firefighters from San Diego, according to the report.

One resident suffered a minor burn but declined to be taken to a hospital.
