San Miguel Fire District Receives Gift

The generous $5,000 gift from Mount Miguel Covenant Village will help sustain the district's TacMedic program.

received a helping hand in the form of a $5,000 donation on Friday, June 17 from residents and administrators at Mount Miguel Covenant Village Retirement Community.

Due to the current economy and budget cuts within San Miguel Fire, the district’s tactical paramedic program, TacMedic, was in jeopardy.  This regional program includes 11 highly trained paramedics from San Miguel, who in addition to working regular hours, volunteer their time as specialists to provide medical assistance during active terrorists incidents, or violent crime incidents in San Diego County. The TacMedic team train and deploy in collaboration with law enforcement and SWAT under highly hazardous conditions.

Throughout the years of serving the communities of Spring Valley, Rancho San Diego, Grossmont and Mount Helix, the San Miguel firefighters developed a close relationship with the Mount Miguel Covenant Village Community.

The retirement home is tucked away at the northwest edge of the Sweetwater Reservoir on a beautiful and scenic 28-acre campus, and is usually served by San Miguel Fire Station 16.

Upon learning about the importance of the TacMedic program, Mount Miguel Covenant Village administrators and residents were quick to donate a $5,000 check to sustain the program.  Their hope is this donation will encourage other community members to donate and help support this vital regional program.
