Sam's Market Robbed by Gunman, Second Time in Five Weeks

Two men entered the business and one of them pulled out a brown handgun as he demanded cash from a clerk, police said.

La Mesa police were on the lookout Thursday for a gunman and an accomplice who robbed a small liquor store of cash.

The armed robbery at at 7587 University Ave. occurred about 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, according to a La Mesa police statement.

Two men entered the business and one of them pulled out a brown handgun as he demanded cash from a clerk, police said. The clerk complied and both men ran away westbound on Sturgess Avenue.

Sam's Market was also of this year.

Police described the men as black and in their early 20s. The gunman stands about 5-feet-9 and is roughly 170 pounds. He wore a brown T-shirt, dark jeans and a green Celtics baseball cap. His accomplice was described as about 6-feet and 220 pounds, wearing a white T-shirt and dark jeans.
