Sailor Missing Since Tuesday Found in La Mesa

The Navy enlisted man is found safe outside a friend's home on Campina Drive.

A Navy man missing since Tuesday is safe at home today after being found outside the home of a friend’s house on Campina Drive in La Mesa.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Nicholas Hamilton was reported missing by his wife Amanda on Tuesday, when he called her from a pay phone saying he would be checking into an inpatient facility to help treat his post traumatic stress disorder.

The father of two small boys had experienced symptoms of PTSD since his 2004 deployment to tsunami-stricken Indonesia, she said.

On Saturday morning, Amanda and teammates from San Diego Roller Derby
covered the city with thousands of fliers in search of the missing sailor. Amanda went to the house of one of her husband's friends around 12:30 p.m., and her husband coincidentally arrived at the same time.

“He had spent most of his time living under a train bridge outside the 32nd Street Naval Station,” she told The San Diego Union-Tribune. “He just showed up and we were in the right place at the right time.”
