Preliminary Hearing Date Set for Delina Sanfilippo
Sanfilippo is accused of assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer after allegedly waving a knife around at the scene of a car accident.
A July 26 preliminary hearing has been set for Delina Sanfilippo, a member of the longtime pizza family in La Mesa, who is accused of assault with a deadly weapon.
Sanfilippo, 41, allegedly waved a knife in the presence of a peace officer responding to a car collision on June 7. Sanfilippo was one of the parties involved in the crash.
According to an earlier report by Patch, incident reports indicate the crash occurred around 10:46 a.m. in the 7600 block of Alvarado Road, a frontage road next to the San Diego RV Resort.

In an earlier interview, police Lt. Dan Willis of the La Mesa Police Department said Sanfilippo “reportedly had a knife in her possession and was allegedly waving it around, though no one specifically was threatened or harmed in any way.”
A readiness hearing date was scheduled Friday. According to staff at the El Cajon Superior Courthouse, a settlement has not been reached and the case now moves forward with a preliminary hearing (Case No. CE311810), scheduled for Tuesday, July 26, at 8:40 a.m.
