Police Seek Help In Finding Missing La Mesa Man

On Monday, May 21, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Alan McKenzie's daughter found what appeared to be a suicide note from her father.

The following announcement was made by the La Mesa Police Department on Tuesday, May 22:

On Monday, May 21, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Alan McKenzie’s daughter found what appeared to be a suicide note from her father.  McKenzie and his vehicle, a silver 2011 Honda Insight (CA 6SCK316) were reported missing. 

McKenzie had recently been going through some marital difficulties and was having problems coping at home and at work.  In the note, McKenzie apologized to his family.  It appears he also took a SigSauer semi-automatic handgun with him.  At approximately 2 a.m., McKenzie’s vehicle was seen traveling westbound on Interstate 8.

McKenzie is described as a 46-year-old white male, 5’11, 205 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The investigation in continuing. Anyone with information is urged to call the at (619) 667-1400.
