Police Searching for Suspect in Robbery at Sam's Market

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 22 years old, wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

The La Mesa Police Department released the following announcement on Friday night:

On Friday, May 18, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the La Mesa Police Department received a radio call of a robbery that just occurred at located at 7587 University Avenue. A male suspect entered the store and brandished a small dark colored handgun with a brown handle. The suspect pointed the handgun at the clerk and stated, “Give me the money.” The clerk complied with the suspects demands giving him the cash from the register. The suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen southbound on Parks Avenue.

Officers searched the surrounding areas with the assistance of San Diego Sheriff Department’s ASTREA, but were unable to locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 22 years old, wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the La Mesa Police Department.
