Police Investigating String of Commercial Robberies

Gas station holdup on Lake Murray Boulevard is one of more than a dozen police say are the work of one group.

A robbery crew that has hit hotels, gas stations and other businesses all over the county since August is responsible for at least one holdup in the La Mesa area, according to police.

The ARCO station at 8787 Lake Murray Blvd. and Navajo Road was robbed just after 6:30 a.m. Sept. 29, according to the San Diego Police Department, one of at least 16 robberies authorities believe were committed by the same group.

San Diego police said at least three males are in the crew, which they have dubbed the No Boundary Bandits, and a female is suspected of casing businesses before some of the robberies.

The suspects have used different methods, sometimes committing robberies in pairs and sometimes alone, according to police. Early cases involved a female entering the business who would talk to employees while also talking on a cell phone. After the female left the business, two men armed with semi-automatic handguns would enter and demand cash from the register and safe, according to San Diego police.

Specific details about the ARCO robbery were not released. A small, dark-colored compact vehicle was seen at one robbery.
