Police Chase Down 2 Minors After Neighbor Spots Home Burglary Bid

Home fence near La Mesa Middle School was breached, according to La Mesa police.

When two juveniles climbed over her neighbor’s side fence Monday afternoon, a Cinnabar Drive neighbor called police.

The result: La Mesa officers nabbed the pair.

La Mesa police Lt. Matt Nicholass said police got the call about 2:13 the alert neighbor in the 7900 block of Cinnabar Drive, northeast of La Mesa Middle School.

“Officers responded to the area and surrounded the residence,” Nicholass said.  “A few minutes later, an officer saw one of the subjects jump over the fence and ran from the officer.

“There was a short foot pursuit where the officer was able to detain the subject a block away.  Officers continued their search of the area and located the second suspect as he was attempting to leave the yard.”

Both suspects were under 18 and arrested on suspicion of  residential burglary.  One subject also was charged with resisting arrest. 

No one was injured during the incident, police said.
