Gunman With Face Band-Aid Robs Motel 6 on Alvarado Road

A gunman wearing a Boston Celtics jersey for No. 34—veteran forward Paul Pierce—robbed the local Motel 6 Monday night of an undisclosed amount of money, authorities said.

Nobody was hurt, police said.

The robber wore a Band-Aid on the left side of his face near his eye, police said they were told.

La Mesa police say officers responded about 6:30 p.m. to a report of a robbery at the motel at 7621 Alvarado Road south of Interstate 8 in west La Mesa.

“The clerk reported the suspect entered the motel office and inquired about a room,” police said in a news release.  “The suspect then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the clerk and demanded the clerk give him the money from the register.”

Police said the manager heard the robbery taking place from another room and called police. 

“The suspect then fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money,” police said.  “The suspect was last seen running westbound in the 7600 block of Alvarado Road.”

No surveillance video is available at this time, police said.

The male robber is described as black, 30-35 years, 6 feet tall with average build. He was unshaven and had short hair. 

He was wearing a green Boston Celtics jersey with the number 34 with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath,  black pants,  a hat with a brim all the way around and black sunglasses. 

The weapon was described as a black pistol with some sliver spots.
