Parents of Baby Found Ailing in Hot Car Free on Bail

The baby's parents are due in court Tuesday. The child died Saturday in a La Mesa hospital.

The parents of a 4-month-old baby who was apparently left alone in a car and died at Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa Saturday have been set free, according to NBCSanDiego.com.

The El Cajon couple posted bail two days after their child was found at the apartment complex in the 500 block of Mollison Avenue. The three other children of Israel Soto, 30, and Jessica Quezada, 23 – ages 1-3 –were taken by authorities and placed in protective custody.

They are expected in court Tuesday. Soto had been held downtown and Quezada at Las Colinas Detention Center in Santee.

They are charged with willful cruelty to a child with injury or death, El Cajon police said, while the baby's mother also is charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Police were called in at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. The baby, who was unable to breathe, had allegedly been left alone the entire night.

News10.com reported their bail was set at $100,000 each.
