The national weather service in San Diego has issued a flash flood watch for mountains and deserts through early evening on Saturday.
The flash flood watch is in effect beginning at 11 a.m., and covers mountain areas in Riverside, San Diego and San Bernardino counties, San Diego County deserts, and Apple and Lucerne valleys, and the Coachella Valley.
The weather service warns of heavy rainfall and runoff, especially over and down stream of recently burned areas.
Monsoonal moisture will gradually decrease today but is still sufficient for thunderstorms to form.
Strong winds and hail may accompany the strongest thunderstorms.
