Motorist Crashes Car into Fire Station, One Injured

A woman crashed a car into two pillars at a fire station near El Cajon, injuring her female passenger seat, a Cal Fire San Diego spokesman said Sunday Dec. 22.

The crash occurred at 10 p.m. Saturday at San Miguel Fire District Station 16 at 905 Gillespie Drive, said Cal Fire-San Diego County Fire Authority Battalion Chief Nick Schuler.

"The driver was taken into custody and one person was transported to an area hospital with mild to moderate injuries," Schuler said.

One pillar was destroyed and another was damaged, he said. No firefighters were injured. The damage did not require firefighters to leave the building.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating and a dispatcher did not know what charges the arrested driver would face.
