Mission Trails Regional Park Fire Spreads to 15 Acres

Firefighting crews, three helicopters and two fixed- wing aircraft were in Mission Trails Regional Park battling a brush fire that has charred at least 15 acres, authorities said.

San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Lee Swanson said the blaze, reported about 2:15 p.m., was spotted headed east near the Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor and Interpretive Center along Father Junipero Serra Trail.

"Ground crews are working on the fire which is on the side of a mountain," Swanson said. "The air attack on the fire is the primary thing right now."
