Man Robbed at Gunpoint in La Mesa of His Cell Phone, Wallet

The robber walked up to the victim's vehicle and tapped on the driver's side window with a black semi-automatic handgun, police said in a statement.

A gunman took a 20-year-old man's wallet and cell phone at gunpoint Thursday morning as the victim sat in his car in La Mesa, police said.

The robbery in the 8200 block of Lemon Avenue was reported at 1:08 a.m., according to La Mesa police.

The robber walked up to the victim's vehicle and tapped on the driver's side window with a black semi-automatic handgun, police said in a statement.

The victim opened his door and gave his wallet and cell phone to the gunman, who then ran away eastbound on Lemon Avenue, police said. No one was hurt.

Police were looking for a black man in his early 20s who is around 5 feet 10, with a heavy build and facial hair. He wore a black hooded sweatshirt, police said.
