Man Fatally Shot in Face in La Mesa ID'd as Hugo Alberto Solorio Mora, 23

Medics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 4:30 on Saturday.

Authorities released the name Thursday of a 23-year-old man who was fatally shot by an unknown assailant last week in a residential neighborhood near Mount Helix.

Patrol officers responding to a report of a possible traffic accident found Hugo Alberto Solorio Mora, address unknown, on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head in the 4800 block of Myrtle Lane in eastern La Mesa about 9:45 p.m. Friday, according to police and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

Medics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 4:30 the next morning.

Police have announced no arrests in the case, and no suspect description has been released.
