Man Arrested on Suspicion of Robbing La Mesa Liquor Store with a Gun

Luis Alonso Cruz-Magana, 24, was arrested Monday evening. He is being held on $100,000 bail.

A man was arrested Monday evening after robbing a La Mesa liquor store, authorities announced.

According to the La Mesa Police Department, the suspect—identified as 24-year-old Luis Alonso Cruz-Magana—took an undetermined amount of cash from the register.

Police responded to the armed robbery at around 6:30 p.m. and with the help of witnesses, arrested Cruz-Magana in the 4800 block of Jessie Avenue

There were no injuries as a result of the robbery. The cash was recovered and returned to the store clerk.

Cruz-Magana is in custody and is being held on three charges: felony parole violation, robbery, and possession of a firearm. He has an arraignment scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27, and is being held on $100,000 bond.
