A man stabbed his mother to death and seriously injured his teenage brother in El Cajon early today and was arrested, police said.
Officers were called to the Ballantyne Apartments at 548 Ballantyne St. near East Madison Avenue shortly before 1 a.m., according to El Cajon police.
Once there, they found the woman dead on a staircase with multiple stab wounds, police said, adding that her teenage son was found in the nearby parking lot with several serious stab wounds for which he was taken to a hospital.

An adult son of the woman's was arrested at the scene. The motive was unclear.
