A La Mesa woman arrested on suspicion of burglary after police mistook her for someone else will receive a $100,000 settlement from the city of San Diego, where some of the crimes occurred, it was reported Wednesday.

The San Diego City Council on Tuesday approved the settlement for Deidria Nicholson, who filed a federal lawsuit against the city last year, U-T San Diego reported.

Nicholson was 50 in April 2010 when she was arrested at her apartment in La Mesa in connection with a string of burglaries in San Marcos and the Lake Murray area. She spent four days in jail and was released only after her attorney showed a prosecutor in the case photos of the suspect and his client, according to the newspaper.
