La Mesa Trolley Rider Has Cell Phone Stolen By Suspect

Police said the victim suffered minor abrasions to her hands in the brief scuffle with the robber, who was described as black, 18-20 years old and roughly 5-feet, 5-inches.

La Mesa police were on the lookout Friday for a robber who ripped a fellow Trolley rider's cell phone out of her hands, leaving her with minor injuries.

The robbery at the 70th Street Trolley Station at 7255 Alvarado Road occurred shortly before 11 p.m. Thursday, according to a police statement.

The victim was sitting near an exit, busy texting. The robber waited for the train to come to a stop and the exit doors to open, police said. He then ripped the phone from the victim's hands and dashed out the exit doors, running away on Alvarado Road.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call La Mesa police at (619) 667-1400.
