La Mesans Among 73 Arrested During Operation Mountain Shadow

James Marshall Thomas and Rene Lewin of La Mesa were two of 73 people arrested earlier this month during Operation Mountain Shadow, the sheriff's department announced Wednesday.

Operation Mountain Shadow was carried out Sept. 10 by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Due to the on-going investigation at the time, the Sheriff's Department did not release the names of suspects arrested in the operation.

stash of guns, drugs and cash worth millions of dollars was found during raids in Ramona and Poway, where 41 of 73 arrests took place, the sheriff's department said. 

People were also arrested in Nevada and Florida in the bust.

Thomas, 28, was arrested for sale of a controlled substance and Lewin, 29, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Arrests made during the operation range from federal drug/gun charges to the transportation, sale or possession of drugs.

Spring Valley resident Jose Norbert Gaytan-Gonzalez, 33, was arrested on federal drug charges.
