La Mesa Police Ticket 45 Motorists in Speed Crackdown

Similar enforcement operations will take place throughout the year, officials said.

La Mesa police on Friday ticketed 45 drivers as part of an enforcement effort to discourage speeders.

Most of the tickets issued were for speeding, but three were for other violations.

“The program relies on heavy enforcement and public education as a means to help reduce deaths and injuries on our local roadways,” police said in a news release.

Similar crackdowns will take place throughout the year, the department said. Funding for the effort came from the state through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
