La Mesa Police Seek Suspect in Attempted Kidnapping of Girl, 14

Police described the man as being of mixed race, possibly black and white. He appeared to be 20-30 years old, had a medium to stocky build and stood around 5 feet 8.

Police asked for the public's help Wednesday to find a man who tried to grab a 14-year-old girl as she rode her bicycle home in La Mesa.

The girl said she was riding her bike in the 8600 block of Dallas Street when the man jumped out of a parked vehicle near Nagel Street about 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to La Mesa police Sgt. Bret Richards.

The suspect lunged at the girl in an attempt to grab her off her bike but missed and she continued to ride eastward, with the man chasing her for a time, Richards said in a statement.
