La Mesa Police Searching for Suspects in Purse Snatching at Grossmont Center

The main suspect in the purse-snatching is described as a black male, between 5-9 and 5-11, with an athletic build, wearing a blue polo shirt and dark pants.

La Mesa police are searching for suspects in a purse-snatching incident that occurred at approximately 7:35 p.m. near Grossmont Center on Friday night.

According to police, as a woman was walking near the intersection of Grossmont Center Drive and Healthcare Drive, a male suspect approached her from behind and began pulling at her purse.

The woman briefly struggled to keep possession of her purse but the suspect forcibly grabbed the purse from her arm. The female lost her balance in the struggle and fell to the ground. Police said she did not sustain any visible injuries and declined medical treatment at the scene.

The suspect entered a silver, 2-door vehicle that was being driven by another male. The vehicle was last seen driving northbound on Grossmont Center Drive.

Officers searched the surrounding areas, but were unable to locate the suspects or the vehicle.

The first suspect is described as a black male, between 5’9”-5’11”, with an athletic build, wearing a blue polo shirt and dark pants.

The driver of the vehicle is described as a black male. No further details were provided.
