Update: 'Prognosis Unclear' For Man Shot in Head in La Mesa

Paramedics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, a Heartland Fire & Rescue dispatcher said.

Update - 7:40 a.m., Friday

The gunshot victim was found lying on the ground, shot in the head, according to Lt. Matt Nicholass of the LMPD. He is in critical condition in a local hospital. His prognosis as of Friday morning was unclear.

Nicholass said that there are now two suspects being sought in the case, both of whom were seen running from the scene in different directions. One is Hispanic, about 5 feet 9, with dark hair and a normal build, he said. The other is white and was last seen wearing a white ball cap, T-shirt and baggy gray shorts.

La Mesa police are in search for a suspect for a shooting that wounded one person, according to police.

The shooting in the 5800 block of Amarillo Avenue in La Mesa was reported about 5:30 p.m., according to police.

Paramedics took the victim to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, a Heartland Fire & Rescue dispatcher said. The wounded person's name and condition were not immediately available.

In contrast to previous reports of the suspect's attire, witnesses described the shooter as a man dressed all in black, according to police. Officers fanned out through the neighborhood in search of him.

Police are investigating a shooting in the 5800 block of Amarillo Avenue, just north of Fletcher Parkway in La Mesa, a dispatcher says. It's not immediately clear if anyone is wounded.

Police are searching for a white male, wearing a white baseball cap, white t-shirt, and beige or gray baggy shorts. Subject is possibly armed with a gun.
