La Mesa Police Host National Night Out at Grossmont Center
There will be several local events, which take place to foster relationships with the community and prevent crime. Sheriff Gore will appear at one.
You have some options if you want to be part of National Night Out Tuesday.
There will be events in La Mesa, Santee and Rancho San Diego to mark the celebration of crime prevention and community partnerships, but the times are staggered so you can jump around if you want.
One good reason to do so? San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore will be at one of the events, in Santee. Gore is set to appear at 5:30 p.m. at the Trolley Square, 9884 Mission Gorge Road. The event continues to 8 p.m.
La Mesa's National Night Out is set for 6 p.m. at the north Target parking lot, 5500 Grossmont Center Drive.
Members of the La Mesa police will be there, along with Heartland firefighters. Child fingerprinting will be offered, along with tours of emergency vehicles. La Mesa's event also will feature an emergency preparedness fair and free barbecue.
The Rancho San Diego event begins at 3:30 p.m. at 2911 Jamacha Road, also outside a Target store. There will be face painting for kids and a display of the sheriff's bomb/arson robot. Free hot dogs will be offered, along with giveaways.
Can't make it out to the events? Organizers encourage those who are staying at home to leave a porch light on to show support for the cause of crime prevention and good relationships with police and deputies.
