La Mesa Police Cite 38 For Speeding in Crackdown

Similar enforcement efforts are planned throughout the year to reduce speeding in the City of La Mesa.

La Mesa Police issued speeding tickets to 38 drivers during a special, six-hour crackdown Friday afternoon and evening.

The 17th “Traffic Safety Enforcement Program” operation combines intensive enforcement and public education in an effort to reduce deaths and injuries on local roadways.

In addition to the speeding tickets, police said several warnings were issued for lesser traffic violations.

Similar enforcement efforts are planned throughout the year, "and as long as it takes to get the message out to not speed in the City of La Mesa," police said.

Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
