La Mesa Police cited 27 drivers for speeding during Saturday’s Traffic Safety Enforcement Program operation.

Officers also impounded the car of one driver who had a suspended license.

The Traffic Safety Enforcement Program, which was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, relies on heavy enforcement and public education to help reduce deaths and injuries on local roadways.

It was the fourth operation in La Mesa, and police said motorists should expect aggressive speeding enforcement to continue throughout the year.
