La Mesa Police arrested two suspects Tuesday who are suspected of breaking into a locked car in the 8400 block of Hillcrest Avenue, according to Lt. Matt Nicholass.
At approximately 1:29 a.m. Tuesday, a resident looked out her window and observed someone breaking into her locked vehicle. The resident quickly called the police and provided detailed information to the dispatchers.
As the officers arrived, the suspects a man and a woman, fled in a gold Toyota Camry which was quickly observed by Officer Ryan Rogers as it was attempting to flee. The vehicle was stopped and the two occupants were linked to the crime.
It was later determined the two suspects had also committed burglaries in El Cajon and in San Diego.
La Mesa Police are working with the surrounding agencies to determine if there are additional victims.
Clyde Hayes, 35, from El Cajon, was was booked at San Diego County Jail for vehicle burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property, and possession of heroin.
Lakeside resident Samantha Sales, 24, of was booked at Las Colinas Detention Facility on charges of vehicle burglary, conspiracy, possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine.
Hayes is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday, Nov. 21. He is being held on $25,000 bail.
