La Mesa Police Arrest 6 in 'Shoulder Tap Operation'

The adults were arrested for purchasing alcohol for a minor.

The La Mesa Police Department arrested six adults for purchasing alcohol for a minor Friday night.

The operation—which was a joint effort with the California Department of Alcoholic Beveral Control and labeled "Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation"—arrested the adults after they purchased the alcohol at six separate retail licensees in La Mesa.

According to the LMPD, those arrested face a maximum fine of $250, and/or 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first violation. LMPD and ABC will also notify the alcoholic beverage licensee of the arrests.

More than 90 law enforcement agencies participated in the operation statewide. Funding for this program was provided by the ABC Grant Assistance Program (GAP).
