Suspected Parolee Sought By La Mesa Police Early Thursday

LMPD responded to reports of suspicious activity near Marguerita Lane and Fletcher Drive in La Mesa.

Early Thursday morning, La Mesa Police responded to a call about suspicious activity in the 4800 block of Marguerita Lane in La Mesa. Reports were that one male and one female were trying to fix a tire on a car.

When police arrived at 4:47 a.m. the male suspect ran from the police. Others reported that the suspect was seen in backyards in the 9100 block of Fletcher Drive, according to Lt. Matt Nicholass of the LMPD.

The suspect was described as a White male, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and shorts. Nicolass said that officers believe the suspect is a parolee-at-large.

K-9 units, along with patrol officers from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department were deployed in the search, as well as the LMPD helicopter.

Officers detained and questioned the female at the scene, but later released her, as it appeared that she had done nothing wrong. It is not known at this time what her relationship is to the suspect.

Nicholas confirmed that officers did find a loaded handgun, which they believe that the suspect discarded. Nicholas could not confirm that the supsect was wanted for a burlgary in the area, as was previously reported on a Breaking News Bulletin.

Police cleared the area at 8:20 a.m. and did not find the suspect.
