Insane Asylum Brain Theft Thwarted by La Mesa Man
The brains were allegedly sold on eBay and stolen from the Indiana Medical History Museum which occupies a space formerly known as the Central State Hospital for the Insane.
A La Mesa medical oddities collector helped bring the illegal sale of brains belonging to patients at the Central State Hospital for the Insane, according to U-T San Diego.
David Charles, 21, repeatedly stole brains from the Indiana Medical History Museum over the past year, Indiana law enforcement claim.
He was arrested during a sting operation last month outside an Indianapolis Dairy Queen, according to Fox 59, and was less than discreet when advertising the allegedly stolen brains for sale.
"Yo I got a bunch of human brains in jars for sale hmu [hit me up] for details u know u want one for Halloween," he said in a Facebook post October.
Brian Kubasco of La Mesa purchased six brains from Charles on eBay and brought the sale to the attention of authorities when his suspicions were aroused, the newspaper said. according to U-T San Diego.
