Gunman Robs Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt Near Vons on Lake Murray Boulevard

Man in late teens or 20 takes cash from store, but two employees unhurt in Sunday night incident.

Police are looking for the gunman who robbed the Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt shop near Vons on Lake Murray Boulevard about 9:25 p.m. Sunday.

La Mesa police say: "One black male adult armed with a handgun entered the Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt store at 5640 Lake Murray Blvd. ... and demanded cash from the two employees’ while displaying a handgun. 

The man ordered the two employees to open the register and safe, police say, and  had the employees empty the money into a paper bag.

He then forced the two into a closet.  The robber blocked the closet door with chairs, police said.

"He then fled the business on foot," police said.  "There was no suspect vehicle seen.  There were no injuries during the robbery."

The robber was described as a black man, 18 to 20 years old, about 5-feet-10 to 6-0, weighing 170-180 pounds.

He wore a dark-colored bandana covering the lower part of his face, a black hooded jacket and dark pants, police said.  He had pulled the sleeves of his jacket over his hands and also wore black shoes.
