Former Monte Vista Baseball Coach Accused of Embezzling Money from the Team

Larry Rinehart faces three felony charges, the Union-Tribune reports.

Larry Rinehart, coach of the Monte Vista High School baseball team from 2002-07, has been charged with felony grand theft concerning his handling of team finances, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported on Friday.

The paper reported that Rinehart was charged with three felonies and his wife, Margaret, was also charged with one count of felony grand theft. The charges allege that team funds were embezzled.

Rinehart has taught at Helix High School and is listed on the school's website as the instructor for economics, money matters and marketing.

The Union-Tribune reported that the case has been under investigation for more than two years.
