DUI Checkpoint Scheduled for Saturday Night

La Mesa police will start checking drivers beginning at 9 p.m. somewhere in the city.

Law-enforcement agencies throughout San Diego County are aggressively looking for drunken drivers this holiday weekend, conducting checkpoints and saturation patrols in numerous locations.

La Mesa police will be searching for impaired drivers at a checkpoint Saturday night scheduled to operate from 9 p.m. until 3 a.m., according to the department. The location has not been released.

The DUI and driver’s license checkpoint is part of Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest., a national crackdown led by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration. The detail will be funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the NHTSA.
