DUI Checkpoint on Spring Street Saturday Night until 2 a.m. Sunday

La Mesa police are looking for impaired drivers and other violations.

La Mesa police are conducting a DUI and driver’s license checkpoint tonight on Spring Street that is scheduled to last until 2 a.m., according to police.

The checkpoint is part of a national campaign by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest. It is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, according to a press release from La Mesa police.

“In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving,” the press release stated.
