DUI Checkpoint In Rancho San Diego This Weekend

The California Highway Patrol will be equipped with testing equipment to measure blood alcohol levels.

The California Highway Patrol announced Thursday that they will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Rancho San Diego.

The CHP, along with certified experts, will be on hand to spot drivers suspected of drug and alcohol use. They will be equipped with testing equipment to measure blood alcohol levels.

“Each year members of our community are needlessly maimed and killed on our roads and highways. Our goal is to ensure the safe passage of each and every motorist by targeting roads where there is a high frequency of drunk driving," said Capt. Lisa Wrobel, El Cajon area Commander. "A sobriety checkpoint is an effective tool in the battle against drunk driving and is designed to augment the existing patrol operations. By publicizing our efforts we believe that we can deter motorist from drinking and driving."

The checkpoint will be operated from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
