Crime Report: Taco Shop Robbed Just After New Year Arrives

The following information was provided by the San Diego Sheriff's Department. The suspects have not been convicted of a crime.

Saturday, Dec. 31

A 51-year-old man was arrested just after 3 a.m. for misdemeanor possession of burglary tools and being drunk in public in the 500 block of Sweetwater Road.

An 18-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon in the 9800 block of Campo Road. An 18-year-old man reportedly suffered a minor injury. A report stated that the weapon was not a firearm.

Three cars were reported stolen in the 600 block of Grand Avenue. Two cars were valued at $1,000 and the other $500.

A vehicle burglary was reported in the 3300 block of Kenora Drive. Items valued at $270 were reported stolen.

Sunday, Jan. 1

An armed robbery was reported at Loreto’s Taco Shop on Bancroft Drive just after 1 a.m. No injuries were reported; $350 in cash was reported stolen.

An assault with a deadly weapon was reported on Harness Street at Canyon Road between 2-3 p.m. An 18-year-old man reportedly suffered a minor injury.

A cell phone valued at $699 was reported stolen from a building in the 8100 block of Cacus Street.

A 30-year-old man was arrested for misdemeanor vehicle tampering and a felony parole violation in the 9500 block of Campo Road.

A call for a customer disturbance in the 9800 block of Campo Road just after 9:30 a.m. resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old woman for misdemeanor battery on an officer, providing false identity, possession of hypodermic needles and a felony parole violation.

Monday, Jan. 2

A car valued at $6,000 was reported stolen in the 8500 block of Paradise Valley Road.

A car was vandalized in the 3600 block of Bonita Street. Damage was estimated at $1,000.

A stolen car was recovered on Central Avenue at Tyler Street. 

Tuesday, Jan. 3

A car valued at $1,000 was reported stolen in the 900 block of Saint George Court.

A 29-year-old woman was cited for misdemeanor shoplifting at Kmart on Sweetwater Road. Clothing valued at $87.94 was recovered.

A commercial burglary was reported at self-storage business in the 6200 block of Quarry Road.

A pair of shoes valued at $139 was reported stolen from a vehicle in 8700 block of Brady Avenue. Another vehicle in the same block was also broken into, with $5 in cash and items valued at $20 reported stolen.

A battery on a person was reported in the 9000 block of Harness Street just after 10:40 p.m. An 18-year-old man and a juvenile were arrested for battery. A 40-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Wednesday, Jan. 4

A license plate was reported stolen in the 3500 block of Helix Street.

A 29-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of burglary at the Rite Aid on Sweetwater Road. Two items with a combined value of $8 were recovered.

Food items valued at $87.96 were reported stolen from the Albertsons on Campo Road.

A 33-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of shoplifting at 7-11 on Campo Road. A food item valued at $0.99 was reported stolen.
