Box Cutter Used in Fight Near La Mesa Middle School

One fight led to another fight on Schoolridge Lane near La Mesa Middle School Sunday in which a man was cut in the stomach then transported to the hospital Sunday evening, according to Sgt. Brett Richards of the La Mesa Police Department.

"Two people got into an argument that turned into a fist fight two other people and that turned into a fight a fight between the other two men that led to one being cut," Richards said.

The first first started around 6 p.m. then quickly after a 31-year-old man was cut. He was later transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego, Richards said.

The two men involved in the altercation are believed to be acquaintances, Richards said.

"It was actually a group fight that started and then these two started fighting after the other fight ended, so it's kind of a melee of things," he said.

Police searched for the man involved in the fight but 47-year-old Troy Perott later turned himself in at the La Mesa Police Department, Richards said.
