He Spent Birthday in Jail After Arrest in Hit-and-Run Near Grossmont Center

Eric Jonsson faces four felony counts and is jailed on $260,000 bail after rear-end injury crash.

Forty-two minutes before turning 48, Eric Jonsson was booked into County Jail on Thursday night on $260,000 bail after a hit-and-run injury incident southeast of Grossmont Center.

According to 10News.com, Jonsson was driving a pickup truck that ran a red light at Grossmont Center Drive and Murray Drive and struck the back of a young mother’s car.

 “She said she was at the stop light, some guy came barreling down and then stopped eventually and then ended up hitting her, hit and ran and then took off,” the woman’s former husband, Mako Pama, was quoted as saying.

The woman, who wasn’t identified, was hospitalized with minor injuries, according to the news station.

Jonsson was jailed on five charges, including felony hit-and-run, drunken driving, driving on a suspended license and possession of narcotics, according to jail records (attached).

A bag of marijuana was reportedly found in his truck.

He is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at El Cajon Superior Court.
