A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Delina Sanfilippo, daughter of the prominent local pizza family, who didn’t appear in El Cajon Superior Court for her scheduled arraignment Thursday morning, authorities said.

"A bench warrant was issued for her for which the bail amount has been set at $50,000,"  said Tanya Sierra, a spokeswoman for the District Attorney’s Office. The charges are felony burglary and felony petty theft, she said.

Sanfilippo, 41, was arrested Jan. 12 on suspicion of aggravated shoplifting 10 days earlier at the Target store in Grossmont Center. This was her second arrest in seven months—after being charged with assaulting a peace officer in a knife-showing case.

The daughter of Village restaurateur Anna Sanfilippo was identified in surveillance video, police say.

Before learning of the charges involved, La Mesa police Lt. Matt Nicholass said officers would seek an arrest in a bench-warrant case only in certain cases.

“If it’s a felony warrant, that’s a different story,” Nicholass said. “We can arrest them and put them in jail. The Sheriff’s Department will make sure they make it to the appropriate court.”

He said in the case of a felony warrant, “we’d probably have an officer look for her—to put her in custody.”

Sanfilippo was taken into custody about 12:30 p.m. Thursday at her apartment in the 4600 block of Fourth Avenue, according to arrest records.
