La Mesa police are on the lookout Friday for two robbers who held up an ice cream shop at gunpoint and got away with a bag of cash.
A gun-wielding male and his accomplice entered the Baskin Robbins at 8807 La Mesa Blvd. about 9:45 p.m. Thursday, according to a La Mesa police statement.
The armed suspect pointed his revolver at the shop's employees, ordered them to lay on the ground, then told one to fill a bag with money from the register, police said. The robbers then ran off, and no one was injured, police said.
Officers searched the surrounding area using a helicopter but did not find the robbers.
Both suspects were described as black males with white cloth covering their faces. The armed robber wore a white sweatshirt with a gray sleeveless shirt on top, a green and black baseball cap and black and white tennis shoes. The other was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and white tennis shoes.
This Baskin Robbins location is no stranger to robberies, having been robbed in 2010 and 2011.
