Authorities Seek Public Help In Identifying Spring Valley Shooting Suspect

Jonathan Lee Brown was shot in the head on April 21 and died later in the hospital.

Earlier this week, San Diego County sheriff's investigators asked for the public's help in identifying the person who opened fire on a car full of people in Spring Valley in April, killing one and injuring another.

Jonathan Lee Brown and two friends were fired upon while in a dark blue 1999 Honda Accord, while  at the intersection of Worthington Street and Noeline Avenue at about 10:20 p.m. on the night of April 21, according to the Sheriff's Department. Brown, who was in the front passenger seat, was shot in the head and later died at a hospital. The driver of the Honda was also struck in the head, but the bullet did not penetrate his skull, according to the Sheriff's Department. The third man was in the backseat, and was not hurt.

According to reports, the three were leaving the parking lot of Moonlight Liquor Store on Meadowbrook Drive, when one of the friends noticed they were being followed slowly by a tan, mid-90s Nissan Maxima. Once they were at the aforementioned intersection, the Maxima allegedly drove up on them, and began opening fire. About a half-dozen shots were fired in total, authorities said.
