Authorities Rescue Man From I-8 Overpass in La Mesa; Traffic Flowing

Eastbound traffic was slowed down Wednesday afternoon due to a rescue.

Authorities say they rescued a man above an Interstate 8 overpass Wednesday afternoon in La Mesa.

The man apparently had an argument near Lake Murray then climbed up the bridge sign, according to California Highway Patrol media information officer Larry Landeros.

Authorities responded to an emergency call around 4:15 p.m. and fire crews rescued the man with a ladder, according to Landeros.

As of 4:48 p.m., all Interstate 8 lanes were open, according to Landeros.

The man is currently in the custody of the La Mesa Police Department.
